Start Up Procedure
Water in your spa can be treated for 3-4 months. After that time, the water must be dumped & refilled with new tap water.
On delivery of a new spa or when you are doing a water change, ALWAYS run a pipe degreaser through the spa first. New spas can be sitting around for months with water in the pumps & pipework after testing and can grow algae. After you run the pipe degreaser, refill your spa with tap water to the recommended level. Fill by putting the hose in the filter pipe as this helps to eliminates air blocks, then heat to desired temperature (26-36 degrees is recommended).
MIXING CHEMICALS: Never add water to chemicals, always add the chemical to the water. The best way to add chemicals to your spa is to get a clean bucket and fill half way with the water from your spa, add the chemicals and dissolve with a stirrer. Once dissolved, press the cleaning cycle and pour the dissolved chemical slowly over the water squirting out of the jets.
Dosage Directions are always per 1000 litres or water... 1 heaped teaspoon = 6 gms approx. 1 heaped tablespoon = 30 gms approx.
REMEMBER - Safe chlorine range is between 1-3 ppm as seen on your test strips. pH is between 7.2 - 7.8 & Total Alkalinity should be between 80 - 160
Use your test strips to test Total Alkalinity or your spa water. If the test reading is below the OK range for pH and Total Alkalinity, add appropriate quantity of pH and Alkalinity Increaser. 45 gms per 1000 litres of this product will raise the Total Alkalinity by 25ppm and will increase the ph as well. Mix the chemical, put into the spa and press the cleaning cycle, circulate for 20 minutes before going to the next step. If the pH and Total Alkalinity are above the OK range, add pH Reducer to reach the OK range.
If you are using a Lithium Sanitiser, add 50gms per 1000 liters and press the cleaning cycle and circulate for 20 minutes. Then every day after that add 12 grams per 1000 litres per day as a daily dose even if you are not using the spa. On the days you do use the spa, add Lithium 20 minutes before you get into the spa. The free chlorine reading should be between 1-3 on your test strip before you get in.
Note: This is a general guide only as you may need to adjust the dosage rates more of less.
