⚖️ What Descend does▾

Heated spa water trends alkaline. Temperature, evaporation and bather activity all push pH upwards over time, and once it rises above 7.6 the ILUKA sanitiser becomes less effective, scale begins forming on heater elements and surfaces, and bathers start to feel the difference. ILUKA Descend lowers both pH and total alkalinity safely.

The target range for an ILUKA spa is 7.2 to 7.6 pH and 125 to 150 ppm total alkalinity. Test before dosing and adjust in stages: do not add more than 25 grams per 1,000L at a time. Retest after 4 hours before considering further adjustment.

Pre-dissolve in a bucket of warm water. Never add directly undissolved to the spa.

Why does pH keep rising between treatments?▾

Heated water tends alkaline by nature. Evaporation concentrates minerals, bather activity introduces alkaline compounds, and the spa's own systems push pH upward continuously. This is normal. Test weekly and use Descend as part of the routine rather than treating it as a one-off problem.

Can I add Descend directly to the spa?▾

No. Always pre-dissolve in a bucket of warm water first. Adding granules directly can damage surfaces and cause localised pH imbalance.

My pH needs to drop by 0.8. Can I add 50g per 1,000L at once?▾

No. The maximum single dose is 25g per 1,000L. Add 25g, wait 4 hours, retest, and add more if needed. Overdosing pushes pH too low and can make the water uncomfortable and corrosive.

Does Descend affect my sanitiser levels?▾

Descend does not directly affect Purify levels, but water that is too alkaline (above 7.6) reduces sanitiser effectiveness. Keeping pH in range with Descend helps Purify work at full efficiency.
