🔩 What Purge does▾

Spa pipework is warm, consistently moist and impossible to inspect. Biofilm, body fats and calcium build up in the pipes at every use regardless of what the surface water quality looks like. Draining and refilling without cleaning the pipes means the fresh fill immediately contacts residue from the previous water. ILUKA Purge is a concentrated pipe cleaner designed to run through the system before each water change, removing what accumulates between drains.

Purge is also the recommended pre-fill step for new spas. Factory water sits in spa pipework during testing, storage and transit, creating conditions for early biofilm development. Running Purge before the first fill removes this and gives the ILUKA system a clean start. The In A Box kit includes Purge for exactly this purpose.

📏 How to use▾

Add to the spa before draining. Do not use as an ongoing spa additive.

Standard water change
As per label

Add with pump running. Circulate for 1 to 2 hours, then drain completely.
New spa first fill
Treat as standard

Add Purge to the first fill of water in a new spa. Circulate for 1 to 2 hours, drain, then fill again and begin the ILUKA routine.
Heavily used spa
Extended circulation

For spas with high bather loads, circulate for 2 hours before draining to give Purge time to clear the full pipe system.
❓ FAQ▾
How do I know if there is biofilm in my pipes?▾
You usually cannot see it, but the signs are a persistent musty smell, unexplained cloudiness that returns despite correct chemistry, or high sanitiser consumption. Running Purge at every water change prevents build-up from developing to the point where you would notice these symptoms.
Do I run Purge before or after draining?▾
Before draining. Add Purge to the spa water with the pump running, circulate for 1 to 2 hours, then drain completely. This flushes the biofilm and residue out with the old water.
Can I skip Purge if I changed the water recently?▾
Only if you ran it at the last water change. Organic residue accumulates continuously regardless of how clean the surface water is. Skipping means it remains in the pipes and contacts the fresh fill from the start.
My new spa smells slightly musty. Is that normal?▾
It is not unusual. New spas can accumulate factory water in the pipework during testing, transit and storage. Running Purge before the first real fill removes this and gives the ILUKA system a clean start.
