🦀 How it works▾

Chitosan is a natural biopolymer made from the shells of crabs, prawns and lobsters. It works as a clarifier because it has a strong positive charge that attracts and binds the negatively charged oil and fat molecules that accumulate in heated spa water. Those bound particles then become large enough for the filter to collect. ILUKA Seachange is built entirely around Chitosan: a natural clarifying mechanism without synthetic chemistry.

Hot water accelerates the breakdown of skin oils, body fats and cosmetics into the water. In an unmanaged spa, these accumulate at the surface and in the filtration system, causing haze and reducing sanitiser efficiency. Seachange addresses this weekly, keeping the water clear and the filter working effectively. Use alongside ILUKA Purify and Eliminate for a complete weekly treatment.

Add Seachange weekly alongside ILUKA Bliss as part of the ILUKA routine. If water haze appears between treatments, a spot dose of Seachange with the pump running will usually clear it within a few hours.

A weekly dose prevents oil build-up from becoming a visible problem. Add alongside Bliss with the pump running.
☁️Water looks hazy▾
Spot dose and run filter
Add 50ml per 1,000L as a spot treatment. Run filtration continuously for at least 4 hours. Check that the filter itself is clean.
🎉After heavy use or a party▾
Double the standard dose
High bather loads introduce significantly more oils. Dose 100ml per 1,000L after a session with multiple bathers.
🔧Filter is clogged▾
Clean filter first
Seachange works with the filter to collect particles. If the filter is heavily soiled, use {il('klenz','ILUKA Klenz')} first so the filter can do its job.

❓ FAQ▾
Is Seachange safe for people with shellfish allergies?▾
Chitosan is derived from crustacean shells and is used at very low concentrations as a water treatment agent. If you or a bather has a severe shellfish allergy, consult a medical professional before use.
Why does my filter need cleaning more often after I start using Seachange?▾
Seachange is working. It binds fine oil particles into clusters that the filter then collects. More particle collection means more filter loading. Regular filter cleaning with ILUKA Klenz is especially important when using Seachange weekly.
Can I use Seachange and Bliss in the same session?▾
Yes. Bliss adds minerals and Seachange clarifies the water. They are complementary and can be dosed on the same day with the pump running.
My water is still hazy after dosing Seachange. What should I check?▾
First check that the filter is clean. Seachange binds particles but relies on the filter to remove them. Also confirm that pH and sanitiser levels are correct, as haze from chemistry issues will not respond to a clarifier.
