📋 How it works

Lo-Chlor Filter Aid & Metal Remover is a natural cellulose fibre that coats pool filter media with a gel-like layer, dramatically improving filtration efficiency — removing dissolved metals, dead algae and fine suspended matter that standard filter media can't catch.

Standard sand and glass media filters have filtration gaps of 20–40 microns. Many fine particles, dead algae cells and dissolved metal compounds pass straight through. Filter Aid works by creating a natural cellulose coating on the filter bed that captures particles as small as 1 micron — comparable to a much finer filter medium, without changing the actual filter.

Lo-Chlor Filter Aid & Metal Remover details

  • Natural cellulose fibre — coats filter media to significantly improve particle capture
  • Removes dissolved metals, dead algae and fine suspended matter
  • Improves filtration from 20–40 micron range down to approximately 1 micron
  • Works with any filter type — sand, glass, cartridge and DE
  • Fast-acting — filter performance improves within hours of application
  • 300g treats a standard residential pool filter

Filter Aid works alongside Lo-Chlor Enviro-Clean — use Enviro-Clean to clean the filter media first, then apply Filter Aid to restore filtration performance to the clean media. For metal removal at the water chemistry level (rather than through filtration), Lo-Chlor Metal Solution sequesters dissolved metals in the water column.

💊 How to use

Apply through the skimmer box with the pump running. Allow 15–30 minutes for the fibre to coat the filter bed.

Standard application
100 g
per 50,000 L
Add through the skimmer box with the pump running. Allow 30 minutes for distribution, then normal filtration.
Heavy metal / algae issue
200 g
per 50,000 L
Higher dose for pools with significant dissolved metals or after treating an algae outbreak. Run filter for 24 hours.
After filter cleaning
100 g
per 50,000 L
After cleaning filter media, apply Filter Aid to restore the filtration-enhancing coating to the cleaned media.
Repeat as needed
Every 4–6 weeks
or as needed
The fibre coating is gradually removed during backwashing. Re-apply when filter performance appears to decline.
❓ FAQ
Will it affect my filter backwash?
Yes — some of the cellulose fibre will be removed during backwashing. This is normal. Re-apply after backwashing to restore the enhanced filtration performance.
Is it safe for all pool surfaces?
Yes — Filter Aid is a natural, inert cellulose material. It won't affect pool surfaces, water chemistry or equipment.
How does this differ from a floc?
A flocculant like Lo-Chlor Maxi-Floc Plus binds particles and settles them to the pool floor for vacuuming. Filter Aid improves the ability of the existing filter to capture fine particles continuously — it's a filtration enhancer rather than a one-off settling treatment.
