Lo-Chlor Winteriser Algaecide keeps your pool algae-free through winter with a single treatment applied at pool close. The 5L bottle treats pools up to 250,000L at the standard dose — the right choice for large residential or commercial pools, or for pool stores and service professionals. Developed specifically for cold-season conditions, it uses the same proven organic copper complex as the original Lo-Chlor Pool Algaecide, formulated to release slowly over the winter months.

Reducing chlorine levels over winter creates the perfect environment for algae to establish. A pre-winter Winteriser dose prevents that from happening, so you open to clean water in spring rather than a green pool that needs emergency treatment.

🧂Salt chlorinated▾

Lo-Chlor Winteriser works with all chlorine-based systems including salt chlorinators. Salt pools are actually more vulnerable to winter algae growth as owners often switch off their chlorinator entirely during colder months. A Winteriser dose ensures protection continues without the chlorinator running.
💧Traditional chlorine▾

This is the most common use case for Winteriser. When you reduce your chlorine dosing over winter, this product provides continuous background algae protection. Apply in autumn before temperatures drop and you won't need to treat again until spring.
🪨Mineral / magnesium▾

Lo-Chlor Winteriser is safe for all mineral and magnesium pool systems. It works independently of your sanitiser, so mineral system chemistry is unaffected.
⚡Ionised / Nature2▾
⚠ Use with care: consider metal-free alternative
Winteriser contains copper compounds. In ionised pools (such as Nature2 or Zodiac mineral systems) that already introduce copper ions, additional copper from Winteriser can cause staining. For ionised pools, we recommend Lo-Chlor Miraclear Metal-Free Algaecide as a winter treatment instead.

When exactly should I add Winteriser?▾
Apply Winteriser in autumn as you're preparing to reduce your pool's chlorine levels and pump run times for the cooler months. Ideally when water temperature drops below 20°C. Add it after a final super-chlorination, allow 24 hours of circulation, then reduce your normal chemical routine.
Can I use it if the pool isn't being fully closed?▾
Yes, Winteriser is valuable even if you swim through winter. Use it as an autumn treatment to reduce how much algaecide you need through the colder months, and consider a lighter maintenance dose of Lo-Chlor Pool Algaecide monthly as a top-up.
Will it stain my pool?▾
No, provided pH and water balance are within normal range when you apply it. Copper-based algaecides can cause staining in pools with very low pH (below 7.0) or very high calcium hardness. Always test and balance water before adding any algaecide. For ionised pools, use a metal-free alternative instead.
Does it reduce how much chlorine I need?▾
Yes, significantly. By maintaining background algae protection through the winter months, Winteriser allows you to run your chlorinator on a reduced schedule (or not at all in some climates). This saves electricity and chemical costs, and extends the life of your chlorinator cell.
What if I forget to add it before winter?▾
You can still add it mid-winter, it's better late than not at all. If your pool has already started showing green water, treat the algae first with Lo-Chlor Pool Algaecide, then add Winteriser once the water is clear to prevent regrowth.
