Traditional algaecides rely on copper compounds, which can cause staining in ionised pools, pools with old copper plumbing, or any pool where additional copper introduction is a concern. Copper-based algaecides are the industry standard and work well in most pools. But in ionised systems, old copper-plumbed pools, or pools prone to staining, adding more copper risks visible discolouration — particularly at low pH. Miraclear Metal-Free delivers the same algaecide result without that risk.
What does 'built-in clarifier' mean?▾
The formulation includes clarifying agents that coagulate fine particles alongside the algaecide treatment. You'll often see improved water clarity as well as algae control from a single dose — reducing or eliminating the need for a separate clarifier product.
Can I use this in my ionised pool for winter close?▾
Yes — this is the recommended product for ionised pool winter closure. Use Miraclear Metal-Free instead of the copper-based Lo-Chlor Winteriser to avoid copper buildup during the colder months when the pool is less actively managed.
