📋 How it works▾

Lo-Chlor Tropiclear was originally developed for Queensland tropical conditions and heated pools — environments where algae growth is accelerated by warmth, humidity and extended swim seasons.

In warmer climates and heated pools, standard-strength algaecide dosing often falls short. Higher water temperatures speed up algae reproduction and reduce the effective lifespan of preventative treatments. Tropiclear's higher-concentration copper complex formula is engineered to keep pace with these conditions.

Choosing your size: The 2.5L is ideal for residential pools as a seasonal supply. The 5L suits larger pools or pool owners who dose more frequently in warmer months. The 20L drum is for commercial pools, service professionals, or properties with multiple pools.

If your pool runs cool or is unheated, Lo-Chlor Pool Algaecide is more economical for standard conditions. For a severe green pool outbreak in warm conditions, step up to Lo-Chlor Algae Knock-Out for emergency-strength treatment. If phosphates are fuelling repeated algae growth, add Lo-Chlor Starver X to remove the food source.

🧂Salt chlorinated▾

Tropiclear is fully compatible with salt chlorinators. Add separately from chlorine shock with the pump running. Allow at least 2 hours between chlorine and algaecide additions.

Tropiclear works with all chlorine systems. Monthly dosing alongside your chlorine routine provides continuous background protection against black and green algae.
🪨Mineral / magnesium▾

Tropiclear is safe for all mineral and magnesium pool systems. It works independently of your sanitiser chemistry and does not affect mineral balance.
⚡Ionised / Nature2▾

Tropiclear contains copper, which can interact with ionised systems that already introduce copper ions. Additional copper at low pH may cause staining. ❓ FAQ▾
Why do heated pools need a stronger algaecide?▾
Algae reproduces faster in warmer water — the rate roughly doubles with every 10°C increase. Standard-dose algaecide that works in a 22°C pool may be insufficient in a heated pool at 30°C. Tropiclear's higher copper concentration provides the extra margin needed.
Can I use Tropiclear if my pool isn't heated?▾
Yes — it will work, just stronger than standard conditions typically require. If your pool is unheated and in a temperate climate, Lo-Chlor Pool Algaecide is more economical. Tropiclear is not harmful at standard doses — you'd simply be using a more concentrated product than needed.
My heated pool keeps going green. What's missing?▾
Warm water combined with elevated phosphates is the most common cause. Test your phosphate levels and treat with Lo-Chlor Starver X if above 300 ppb — removing the food source significantly improves how well Tropiclear and chlorine can hold the line.
Which size should I buy?▾
The 2.5L is the right starting point for most residential pools — it provides roughly 10 monthly treatments for a 50,000L pool at the standard dose. If your pool is large (above 75,000L) or you dose more frequently in summer, the 5L is more economical. The 20L is for commercial pools or service professionals.
