Unfortunately, the simple answer is no — a vinyl liner can never be reused. Once water is removed, vinyl shrinks extremely fast and to such an extent that it becomes impossible to stretch the liner back across the pool.
You will need a new liner if you move house or sell your pool
If you are moving house and want to take your above-ground pool with you, or if you are selling the pool, you will need to replace the liner either way. If you are buying a second-hand pool, make sure you factor the cost of a new liner into the purchase price.
Even moving the same pool to a new location creates problems. The liner already has holes cut for the skimmer and returns, and there is virtually no chance the new pool orientation will line up with those existing cutouts. A new liner is almost always required.
What if you want to leave your pool unused for an extended period?
Leave it full. Running the pump for just one hour a day is far cheaper than replacing a shrunken liner when you want to use the pool again. Long-life algaecides are available to keep your water clear over the winter months without any ongoing effort.
Only use Australian-made pool liners
Quality Australian-made liners will last a minimum of 10 years when looked after correctly. Imported liners are known to split along the welds, fade faster and fit poorly. At Direct Pool Supplies, we only supply Australian-made pool liners, available in all common shapes, colours and sizes to suit the most popular above-ground pools.
