How the $350 works

The NSW Energy Savings Scheme, in plain English.

The NSW Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) is a state government program administered by IPART (the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal). When NSW homeowners upgrade to a high-efficiency pool pump like the Viron P320, the upgrade generates Energy Savings Certificates.

Direct Pool Supplies, working with our Accredited Certificate Provider, creates and sells those certificates. We pass the value back to you as an upfront $350 discount. No paperwork on your end beyond a quick nomination form on installation day.

The flow

How your $350 gets generated

  1. You book the installation. Your old pump (or a non-existent one for new builds) is replaced with the new accredited high-efficiency Viron P320.
  2. The upgrade generates Energy Savings Certificates. The state government calculates the lifetime energy saved and issues certificates to our Accredited Certificate Provider.
  3. The certificates are sold on the open market. They're traded much like carbon credits, generating real dollar value.
  4. That value comes back to you as $350 off. Applied as an upfront discount on your installation invoice. You don't pay the full amount and wait for a refund.
What we need from you

Just two things

  • Your NMI, or a copy of a recent energy bill The NMI (National Metering Identifier) is an 11-character number unique to your electricity connection. It appears on every NSW energy bill and is also printed on your electricity meter. It confirms the property is on the NSW grid, which is the eligibility test for the scheme.
  • Your written nomination A short form your installer brings on the day, formally authorising us to claim the certificates on your behalf. Takes about 60 seconds to sign.
Where to find your NMI Two ways

On your energy bill Look for "NMI" in the account details section, usually on page one or two. It's an 11-character code starting with letters.

On your electricity meter Don't have a recent bill? Check your meter box. The NMI is printed on a label on the front of your meter.
On your data: Your NMI and energy bill are used only for the certificate claim under the NSW Energy Savings Scheme. We don't share them, sell them, or use them for marketing. If you'd rather not participate, the campaign price of $1,995 installed is yours regardless.
Where we install

Free professional installation across NSW.

Our pool technicians install across Sydney and Newcastle, and surrounding areas. The offer is exclusive to NSW homeowners because the Energy Savings Scheme only applies in NSW.

Outside our standard zones? Submit the form anyway. We may still be able to install for a small travel fee, and we'll always be upfront about it before booking.

Common questions

Sorted before you ask.

Why can't I just buy this online?

Pool pumps need to be matched to your pool's volume, plumbing layout, and existing equipment. We sell this offer with installation only because we want to be sure the pump is right for your pool before anything is bolted down. It also means there's no separate plumber to organise on your end.

What if I'm not in NSW?

This particular offer is exclusive to NSW homeowners because the $350 discount is funded by the NSW Energy Savings Scheme, which only operates within NSW. We do install in other states for other products. Get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.

What if my postcode isn't in your standard install zones?

Submit the form anyway. Our standard zones cover most of metro Sydney, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Central Coast and parts of the Hunter. For NSW addresses outside those areas, we may still install for a small travel fee, and we'll always quote it transparently before you commit.

Do I have to provide my energy bill or NMI?

No. You can take the campaign price of $1,995 installed without it. The $350 ESS discount is optional and only available when we can claim the certificates on your behalf, which requires the NMI. If you'd rather skip the rebate process, you'll still save $415 off the standard installed price.

What is an NMI?

The NMI (National Metering Identifier) is an 11-character alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies your electricity connection point. It appears on every NSW energy bill, usually on the first or second page, and is also printed on your electricity meter. Sample format: NAAA000123456. It's not your account number, customer number, or meter number.

When do I pay?

Once our team has confirmed your eligibility and locked in your installation date, we'll issue an invoice. Full payment is required before our technician attends site. We accept all major credit and debit cards, bank transfer, and EFTPOS.

How is the $350 actually calculated?

The amount is set by IPART under the NSW Energy Savings Scheme rules and reflects the lifetime energy savings of upgrading to an accredited high-efficiency pool pump. We've tied this offer to a fixed $350 to keep things simple and transparent. Your installer will brief you on the formal nomination form on the day.

How long does installation take?

Most installs are completed in a single visit, typically 90 to 120 minutes. Our scheduling team books a window after you submit the form, and we always give you the heads up if anything in your existing setup looks like it'll need extra time.

Are there any extra costs I should know about?

The $1,995 covers the pump and a standard installation. If your existing valves, plumbing or electrical connections need replacing, those are quoted separately and discussed with you before any work goes ahead. Our technicians never start additional work without your sign-off.

Does the pump come with a warranty?

Yes. The Viron P320 XT MKII comes with the AstralPool manufacturer warranty, plus the assurance that it's been installed by a qualified technician (which is generally a requirement for the warranty to remain valid).
