Lo-Chlor Hydra-Slip Silicone Grease is a pool-grade silicone lubricant for O-rings, seals, pump lids and filter fittings — protecting rubber components from drying, cracking and chemical damage. The 75g size offers more product per container — ideal for service professionals or owners with multiple items of pool equipment requiring regular O-ring maintenance.

O-rings are the unsung heroes of pool plumbing — small rubber seals that prevent leaks at pump lids, filter heads, multiport valves and fittings. Without lubrication, these seals dry out, crack and begin to leak. Hydra-Slip maintains the flexibility and sealing performance of rubber components, dramatically extending their service life.

🔍 Where to use it▾

Hydra-Slip is used on equipment, not in pool water. Select your equipment type.

⚙Pump lid O-ring▾
✓ Primary use — pump lid seals
Apply a thin coat to the pump lid O-ring each time you open the pump basket. This is the most common O-ring maintenance task for pool owners.
🔵Filter head O-ring▾
✓ Important — filter seal maintenance
Filter head O-rings seal the top of sand filters and cartridge filter housings. Annual lubrication prevents leaks and cracking.
🔄Multiport valve O-rings▾
✓ Recommended — prevents valve leaks
The internals of multiport valves use O-rings that benefit from periodic lubrication. Apply during annual valve service.
🧂Salt chlorinator fittings▾
✓ Important — salt-exposed seals degrade faster
Salt exposure accelerates rubber degradation. Lubricate all chlorinator seals and O-rings more frequently — every 3 months.
🔩Threaded fittings & unions▾
✓ Helpful — eases assembly and prevents seizing
A thin coat on threaded unions and connections makes assembly easier and prevents dissimilar materials from seizing.
⚠Petroleum-based products▾
✗ Do not substitute with petroleum products
⚠ Never use petroleum-based lubricants (Vaseline, WD-40) on rubber pool seals — they swell and degrade rubber. Only use silicone-based lubricants like Hydra-Slip.

A very small amount is sufficient. Apply with a clean fingertip or cotton swab.

❓ FAQ▾
Can I use Vaseline instead?▾
No — petroleum-based products (including Vaseline and WD-40) swell rubber O-rings, causing them to deform and eventually fail. Only silicone-based lubricants are safe for pool equipment rubber seals.
How often should I lubricate my pump O-ring?▾
Every time you open the pump lid — typically monthly when you clean the basket. This 30-second step costs almost nothing and prevents the most common cause of pump lid leaks.
My O-ring is cracking. Will Hydra-Slip fix it?▾
Hydra-Slip prevents cracking but can't repair an already cracked O-ring. A cracked O-ring needs to be replaced. After replacing, apply Hydra-Slip regularly to extend the life of the new seal.
