Cartridge filters trap everything that the ILUKA chemistry leaves behind. Body fats, calcium scale and fine organic matter compact in the filter pleats with every use, progressively reducing filtration efficiency. A poorly performing filter means Seachange and Eliminate cannot do their jobs properly: they bind and break down particles that the filter then needs to collect. ILUKA Klenz is a spray-on, no-soak formula that removes all of it in minutes.

Regular filter cleaning is one of the most effective maintenance steps in any spa care routine. A clean filter works significantly better than a partially blocked one, and it extends the service life of the cartridge. Clean after every 4 to 6 spa sessions, or monthly at minimum.

📏 How to use▾

Remove the filter cartridge before cleaning.

Standard clean

Spray on

Remove cartridge. Spray Klenz over the pleats. Leave 3 to 5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry before reinstalling.

Heavily soiled filter

Two applications

Apply, leave 5 minutes, rinse. Repeat for heavily scaled or oil-loaded filters.

How often should I clean the filter with Klenz?▾

After every 4 to 6 uses, or monthly at minimum. In summer or under heavy use, weekly cleaning maintains better filtration performance and extends the cartridge life noticeably.

Do I need to soak the filter overnight?▾

No. ILUKA Klenz is a spray-on, hose-off formula. Spray the pleats, wait 3 to 5 minutes, rinse thoroughly. For heavily soiled filters, a second application is more effective than soaking.

Why does Seachange work better after I clean the filter?▾

Seachange binds oil particles into clusters that the filter then needs to collect. A loaded filter cannot collect them efficiently. Keeping the filter clean with Klenz is what allows Seachange to do its job properly.

How do I know when to replace rather than clean the filter?▾

If the filter is discoloured, has collapsed or damaged pleats, or does not restore water clarity after cleaning, replace it. Filters typically last 12 to 24 months with regular Klenz cleaning.
