This guide covers how to get started with Poppit — whether you are setting up a brand new spa or switching from an existing sanitisation system. Both paths follow the same 3-step start-up process once the spa is clean and filled. The difference is what you do to prepare.
Before You Start: Choose Your Path
The 3-Step Start-Up Process
This process applies every time you fill or refill the spa — whether new, converted, or after a routine water change.
Clear the water with Poppit Quick Fix
Add to the middle or deep end of the spa. Run the filter for 4 hours with the cover off. This neutralises chlorine and impurities from all water types — tap, bore and rain water included. Do not skip this step regardless of your water source.

Test and balance with Poppit 4-Way Test Strips
After the 4-hour filter run, test pH, alkalinity and calcium and adjust to these targets:
pH
7.2 - 7.6
Total Alkalinity
80 - 120 ppm
Calcium
Min. 100 ppm
pH or alkalinity too low: add Poppit Spa Water Balance
pH too high: add Poppit Spa pH Reducer
Calcium too low: add Poppit Spa Cal Hardener
Heat and sanitise with Poppit Spa Sanitiser
Heat the spa to your preferred temperature, then add Poppit Spa Sanitiser. Your spa is now ready to use.
Dose

Ongoing Maintenance
How often you need to top up chemicals depends on how frequently the spa is used. Use the chart below as your guide.
Two rules apply regardless of usage level:
Run the filter for at least 4 hours every day, and after every single use.
Drain and refill every 6-8 weeks. Always run Poppit Spa Pipe Degreaser through the jets before dumping the water, then follow the 3-step start-up process on the fresh fill.
