⚖️ What it does▾
pH and total alkalinity look like the same thing on a test kit until you try to manage them separately. Alkalinity is the chemical buffer that stops pH from swinging unpredictably between doses. When alkalinity is too low, even correct pH adjustments do not hold: the reading shifts significantly before the next test. AquaSpa Alkalinity Enhancer raises both total alkalinity and pH, restoring the buffer that makes the rest of your water chemistry stable.
The target total alkalinity for the AquaSpa system is 80 to 150 ppm. Low alkalinity also accelerates equipment corrosion and makes the spa water more likely to irritate skin and eyes. Test with the 4-in-1 Test Kit and adjust before attempting pH correction if alkalinity is below range.
AquaSpa Alkalinity Enhancer details
Raises total alkalinity and pH in spa and hot tub water
Food-grade material: will not cloud the water
Compatible with all AquaSpa chemicals
Target total alkalinity: 80 to 150 ppm
Use with pH Reducer to manage balance in both directions
📏 How to dose▾
Pre-dissolve in a bucket of warm water before adding to the spa. Do not add directly undissolved.
To raise TA by 10 ppm
18g
per 1,000L
Dissolve in warm water and add to the spa with the pump running. Retest after 4 hours.
To raise TA by 20 ppm
36g
per 1,000L
Add in two separate applications 30 minutes apart. Retest before adding further amounts.
pH is low but TA is OK
Use carefully
Adding Alkalinity Enhancer raises both TA and pH. If pH is already at range and TA is low, add in small amounts and retest frequently to avoid overshooting pH.
❓ FAQ▾
What happens if I let alkalinity drop too low?▾
pH becomes unstable. It may read correctly one day and be significantly off the next, despite no changes to the spa. Low alkalinity also accelerates corrosion of heater elements and equipment seals.
Can I raise pH with Alkalinity Enhancer instead of a separate pH product?▾
Alkalinity Enhancer raises both pH and total alkalinity, so yes, it will raise pH. But if alkalinity is already at the top of the target range, use a dedicated pH adjustment approach to avoid pushing alkalinity too high. Test both before deciding.
How much do I add?▾
18g per 1,000L raises total alkalinity by approximately 10 ppm. Pre-dissolve in warm water and add with the pump running. Retest after 4 hours before adding more.
My pH keeps drifting even after adjustment. What is the cause?▾
Unstable pH almost always means alkalinity is too low. Correct the alkalinity first using Alkalinity Enhancer, then adjust pH. The 4-in-1 Test Kit tests both simultaneously.
