📋 How it works

Lo-Chlor Pool and Spa Leak Sealer is an advanced liquid formulation for sealing minor cracks and leaks in pool and spa pipework and pool surfaces — without excavation, without draining, and without expensive leak detection and repair work.

A leaking pool loses water, heat energy and chemicals — costing money every day until repaired. For minor cracks in plumbing and small surface leaks, Lo-Chlor Leak Sealer offers a straightforward first response. The high-pH formulation precipitates calcium compounds in the water to form a seal as it contacts a crack or gap — sealing minor leaks from the inside.

Lo-Chlor Pool and Spa Leak Sealer details

  • Seals minor cracks and leaks in pool and spa pipework
  • Also seals minor leaks in pool surfaces (cracks, porous areas)
  • Works from inside the pool — no excavation or draining required
  • High pH formulation precipitates a calcium-based seal
  • Easy to apply — add to pool water with the pump running
  • ⚠ For minor leaks only — major structural damage requires professional repair

Important: Leak Sealer is designed for minor leaks and is not a substitute for professional structural repair of significant cracks or major leaks. If your pool is losing more than 25mm of water per day (after accounting for evaporation), consult a pool professional for a full leak detection assessment.

🔍 Is it right for my situation?

Leak Sealer is suitable for specific pool types and leak situations.

🔵Minor pipe leak
✓ Designed for this purpose
Works by sealing minor leaks in pipework from inside the pool circulation system. Apply with the pool running for distribution through the plumbing.
🧱Concrete / pebblecrete
✓ Compatible — surface crack sealing
Can help seal minor surface cracks in concrete and pebblecrete pools. The product precipitates in contact with the crack and begins to seal from inside.
🏊Fibreglass
⚠ Limited effectiveness on fibreglass
Leak Sealer is less effective on smooth fibreglass surfaces. A fibreglass gel coat repair kit may be more appropriate for surface damage in fibreglass pools.
💧Active leak
✓ Apply with leak present
The product works best when applied to an actively leaking pool — the water flow through the leak draws the product to the problem area.
Major structural damage
✗ Not suitable — professional repair required
Leak Sealer is for minor leaks only. Significant structural cracks, major equipment leaks or water loss above 25mm/day require professional leak detection and repair.
🛁Spas & hot tubs
✓ Compatible — minor spa leaks
Suitable for sealing minor leaks in spa shells and spa plumbing systems.
💊 How to use

Apply with the pump running on the recirculate or filter setting. Do not backwash for 48 hours after application.

Standard application
500 ml
per 50,000 L
Add to skimmer box with pump running. Circulate for 8–12 hours to distribute through the plumbing system.
Larger pools / spas
Scale dose
to volume
For pools above 50,000L or persistent minor leaks, scale dose proportionally or apply a second treatment.
Do not backwash
48 hours
after application
Backwashing removes the product from the system before it can seal. Wait 48 hours before any backwashing.
Second application
If needed after 48 hours
If the leak hasn't sealed after the initial treatment, apply a second dose. For ongoing leaks after two treatments, professional assessment is recommended.
❓ FAQ
How do I know if my pool is actually leaking?
The 'bucket test' is the simplest method: place a filled bucket of water on the pool step, mark the water level in both bucket and pool, and compare after 24 hours. If the pool drops more than the bucket (which represents evaporation), you have a leak. A loss of more than 6mm per day beyond evaporation indicates a significant leak.
Will it seal a leaking return fitting?
Possibly — if the leak is minor and occurring through a thread or join in the plumbing, the product may seal it. For fittings that are cracked or have failed structurally, physical replacement is needed.
Can it harm my pool surfaces?
The formula is high pH (around 12). Used at recommended doses, it won't damage pool surfaces. Avoid concentrated application directly on sensitive vinyl liners — dilute through the pool water as directed.
What if it doesn't work?
If the leak persists after two applications, the leak is likely too significant for a chemical sealant or is in a location where the product can't reach effectively. At this point, professional leak detection (electronic or dye testing) and physical repair is the appropriate next step.
