Lo-Chlor — Stain & Metal Treatment
Stain & Scale Defence

📋 How it works▾
Lo-Chlor Stain & Scale Defence is a weekly preventative treatment that keeps dissolved metals in suspension and prevents calcium scale from depositing on pool surfaces, fittings and salt chlorinator cells.
Most pool staining and scale buildup is gradual — metals and minerals slowly deposit over time, often going unnoticed until discolouration is significant. Stain & Scale Defence keeps this process from ever starting, making it far easier and less expensive than treating established stains.

🧂Salt chlorinated▾
✓ Compatible — particularly valuable for salt pools
Salt pool owners benefit most from Stain & Scale Defence. Salt chlorinator cells are particularly prone to calcium scale buildup, and regular weekly dosing significantly extends cell life and maintains efficiency. It also prevents the localised corrosion staining that develops around salt fittings.
💧Traditional chlorine▾
✓ Compatible — works with all chlorine systems
Safe for all chlorine pool systems. Apply with the pump running and circulate for at least 2 hours.
🪨Mineral / magnesium▾
✓ Compatible — safe for mineral systems
Safe for mineral and magnesium pool systems. Does not interact with mineral sanitiser chemistry.
⚡Ionised / Nature2▾
✓ Compatible — safe for ionised systems
Fully compatible with ionised and Nature2 pool systems.
🏊Fibreglass▾
✓ Compatible — safe for fibreglass
Safe for fibreglass surfaces at recommended doses.

💊 Dosage guide▾
Add directly to pool water with the pump running. Weekly dosing maintains consistent protection.
Weekly maintenance
100 ml
per 50,000 L
Add once a week with the pump running. Consistent weekly dosing provides the best long-term protection.
After stain treatment
200 ml
per 50,000 L
Higher initial dose after treating existing stains with Multi Stain Remover. Then continue at weekly rate.
Hard water areas
150 ml
per 50,000 L
Increase dose slightly if your fill water has high calcium hardness (above 300 ppm). Test calcium hardness monthly.
Chlorinator cell protection
100 ml
per 50,000 L
Weekly dosing helps prevent scale on the cell surface. Check and clean the cell every 3 months as routine maintenance.
❓ FAQ▾
How is Stain & Scale Defence different from Metal Solution?▾
Lo-Chlor Metal Solution is best for reactive treatment — adding immediately after filling from metal-rich water or after a staining incident. Stain & Scale Defence is the ongoing weekly maintenance product that covers both metals and calcium scale. For a pool with a known metal history, use both: Metal Solution for the initial load, then Defence weekly to maintain.
Will it help my salt cell last longer?▾
Yes — calcium scale is the primary cause of reduced salt cell efficiency and premature cell failure. Weekly Stain & Scale Defence dosing significantly reduces scale formation on cell plates. Many pool service professionals recommend it specifically for salt pool owners as part of routine maintenance.
I have white scale on my tiles. Will this fix it?▾
Stain & Scale Defence prevents calcium scale from forming but won't remove scale that's already there. For existing calcium scale, use Lo-Chlor Stain & Scale Attack first — the two-part formula dissolves existing deposits. Once the surfaces are clean, start weekly Defence dosing to keep them that way.
Can I use it if my pH is high?▾
You should always maintain pH in the 7.2–7.6 range for overall pool health. High pH accelerates calcium scale formation and reduces chlorine effectiveness. Stain & Scale Defence works best when water chemistry is balanced — it's not a substitute for proper pH management.
