📋 How it works

Lo-Chlor Stain & Scale Attack is a two-part treatment system for removing established calcium scale from pool surfaces, fittings, pipes and salt chlorinator cells — the most effective Lo-Chlor approach for hard scale that single-product treatments can't shift.

Calcium scale forms when hard water (high calcium hardness) deposits calcium carbonate on pool surfaces over time. It appears as white, grey or chalky buildup on tiles, waterlines, filtration equipment and chlorinator cells. The two-part system works sequentially: Part I conditions the scale for removal, Part II lifts and dissolves the deposits.

Lo-Chlor Stain & Scale Attack details

  • Two-part system for maximum scale removal — more effective than single-product treatments
  • Specifically formulated for calcium carbonate scale (white/grey/chalky deposits)
  • Works on pool surfaces, waterline tiles, fittings, pipes and salt cells
  • Does not affect water balance when used as directed
  • Follow with Stain & Scale Defence weekly to prevent recurrence

After removing scale with Stain & Scale Attack, start Lo-Chlor Stain & Scale Defence weekly — it prevents calcium and metals from redepositing. For metal staining (rust, copper, manganese) rather than calcium scale, use Lo-Chlor Multi Stain Remover instead.

🔍 Does it suit my pool?

Select your pool type or surface for specific guidance.

🧂Salt chlorinated
✓ Compatible — essential for salt cell maintenance
Salt chlorinator cells are particularly prone to calcium scale buildup, which reduces efficiency and shortens cell life. Stain & Scale Attack is one of the most effective treatments for restoring heavily scaled cells. Remove the cell and treat directly for best results.
💧Traditional chlorine
✓ Compatible — works with all chlorine systems
Safe for all chlorine pool systems. Apply with the pump running and circulate for at least 2 hours.
🪨Mineral / magnesium
✓ Compatible — safe for mineral systems
Safe for mineral and magnesium pool systems. Does not interact with mineral sanitiser chemistry.
Ionised / Nature2
✓ Compatible — safe for ionised systems
Fully compatible with ionised and Nature2 pool systems.
🏊Fibreglass
✓ Compatible — safe for fibreglass
Safe for fibreglass surfaces at recommended doses.
🧱Concrete / pebblecrete
✓ Compatible — safe for all hard surfaces
Safe for concrete, pebblecrete and tiled surfaces at recommended doses.
💊 Dosage guide

Always follow the product label instructions exactly. Apply Part I first, then Part II as directed. Lower free chlorine before treatment.

Step 1 — Part I
Apply Part I
to pool or cell
Apply Part I to the pool water or directly to the scaled surface as directed on the label. Allow prescribed contact time.
Step 2 — Part II
Apply Part II
after Part I
Add Part II as directed. The two-part reaction conditions and lifts the calcium scale deposits.
Brush & filter
Brush surfaces
after treatment
Brush treated areas to assist removal. Run filter continuously for 24–48 hours to clear loosened scale particles.
🛡 Ongoing prevention
weekly
Start weekly Stain & Scale Defence after treatment to prevent calcium from redepositing.
❓ FAQ
How is Stain & Scale Attack different from Stain & Scale Defence?
Attack is a treatment — it removes established calcium scale that's already deposited. Stain & Scale Defence is ongoing prevention — it keeps calcium and metals in suspension so they can't deposit in the first place. Use Attack to treat existing scale, then Defence to prevent it returning.
Why does it need two parts?
Calcium scale (calcium carbonate) is chemically resistant to single-product treatments. Part I penetrates and conditions the scale matrix, making it susceptible to dissolution. Part II then reacts with the conditioned scale to lift and remove it. The two-step chemistry is significantly more effective than either compound alone.
Will it damage my pool surface?
When used as directed, Stain & Scale Attack is safe for all recommended pool surfaces. The most important precaution is ensuring chlorine is within range before treatment and following dosage instructions precisely. Do not leave Part I in contact longer than specified.
My salt cell is heavily scaled. Will this work on it?
Yes — Stain & Scale Attack is particularly effective for salt chlorinator cell descaling. Remove the cell and follow the label instructions for cell treatment. After descaling, ensure your weekly pool maintenance includes Stain & Scale Defence to slow future scale buildup.
