AquaFresh — Non-Chlorine System
AquaFresh Pool Sanitiser 1L

📋 How it works▾
AquaFresh Pool Sanitiser is a non-chlorine PHMB-based pool sanitiser that keeps pool water safe and clear without chlorine — eliminating the smell, eye irritation and skin sensitivity associated with traditional pool chemicals. The 1L is ideal for spa use or as a top-up bottle for an established AquaFresh pool system.
AquaFresh uses polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) technology, a hospital-grade antimicrobial compound that kills bacteria and pathogens without producing chloramines, oxidation byproducts or volatile disinfection compounds. The result is crystal-clear water with no pool smell, no red eyes, and no skin or respiratory irritation.

🔍 Is it right for my pool?▾
AquaFresh is a chlorine-free system. Select your situation below.
🔄Switching from chlorine▾
✓ Compatible — requires system transition
When switching from chlorine to AquaFresh, super-chlorinate first to remove chlorine residues, then run the pool until chlorine reaches zero before starting AquaFresh. The transition takes 1–2 weeks.
🆕New pool or fresh fill▾
✓ Ideal — start fresh with AquaFresh
A new fill or recently drained pool is the easiest starting point. Use the AquaFresh Start Up Kit for a structured introduction.
🏊Fibreglass▾
✓ Compatible — ideal for fibreglass
AquaFresh PHMB sanitiser is gentle on fibreglass and coloured surfaces, causing no fading or surface degradation.
🧱Concrete / pebblecrete▾
✓ Compatible — safe for all hard surfaces
Safe for concrete, pebblecrete and tiled pools. PHMB does not affect plaster or grout.
⚡Currently using ioniser▾
⚠ Check compatibility
PHMB is not compatible with some ionisation systems. Check your ioniser manufacturer's guidance before switching to AquaFresh.
🧴Sensitive skin / allergies▾
✓ Primary benefit — ideal for allergy sufferers
Eliminating chlorine removes the most common source of pool-related skin, eye and respiratory irritation. AquaFresh is specifically recommended for allergy sufferers and those with sensitive skin.
💊 Dosage guide▾
Maintain PHMB levels between 30–50 ppm. Test regularly with the AquaFresh 4-in-1 Test Kit.
Initial dose
500 ml
per 10,000 L
Starting dose for a pool with no existing PHMB. Dose to achieve 30–50 ppm. Confirm with test kit.
Weekly maintenance
100–200 ml
per 50,000 L
Maintain PHMB levels in the 30–50 ppm range. Test weekly and top up as needed.
After heavy use
Top up to 50 ppm
Test after parties or high bather loads. Add Sanitiser to restore levels to the top of the 30–50 ppm range.
Spa / hot tub
Higher frequency
maintenance
Spas require more frequent testing and dosing. PHMB is consumed faster in small-volume, high-temperature water.
❓ FAQ▾
Can I use AquaFresh in a pool that currently has chlorine?▾
Yes, but you need to transition. Super-chlorinate the pool first, run until free chlorine drops to zero, then start the AquaFresh system. Introducing PHMB into a pool with residual chlorine causes a reaction that reduces both chemicals. The AquaFresh Start Up Kit includes transition guidance.
How do I test AquaFresh levels?▾
Standard DPD chlorine test kits cannot measure PHMB. You need the dedicated AquaFresh 4-in-1 Test Kit which tests for PHMB, hydrogen peroxide, pH and total alkalinity.
Is it really as effective as chlorine for sanitation?▾
AquaFresh PHMB is a proven, hospital-grade antimicrobial. It's not as fast-acting as high-dose chlorine shock, but for ongoing sanitation it's highly effective. Many pool owners prefer the system specifically because it doesn't fade swimwear, doesn't cause eye irritation, and doesn't have that distinctive chemical smell.
Which size should I buy?▾
For initial dosing of a standard 50,000L pool, you'll need approximately 5L to reach the starting PHMB level. The 1L is useful for regular top-ups or smaller pools. The 5L is the most economical for ongoing weekly maintenance.
