⚖️ What it does

In a heated spa, pH goes one direction: up. Hot water, evaporation and bather activity all push it towards alkaline over time, and once it rises above 7.8 your sanitiser becomes less effective, scale begins forming on heater elements and surfaces, and bathers start to feel the difference. AquaSpa pH Reducer brings it back down quickly. It is granular, dissolves fast and produces no fumes or vapours.

The target range for AquaSpa is 7.0 to 7.8. Test weekly with the 4-in-1 Test Kit and add pH Reducer when the reading is above 7.8. If total alkalinity is also high, the same dose reduces both simultaneously, but check alkalinity separately with the test kit before adjusting.

AquaSpa pH Reducer details

  • Lowers pH and total alkalinity in spa and hot tub water
  • Granular, fast-dissolving formula
  • No fumes or vapours
  • Compatible with all AquaSpa chemicals
  • Pair with Alkalinity Enhancer when pH needs raising
📏 How to dose

Pre-dissolve in a bucket of water before adding to the spa. Do not add directly to the water undissolved.

To reduce pH by 0.2
15g
per 1,000L
Dissolve in a bucket of warm water and add to the spa with the pump running. Retest after 4 hours.
To reduce pH by 0.4
30g
per 1,000L
Dissolve and add in two separate applications 30 minutes apart. Retest after 4 hours.
Maximum single dose
Reduce in stages
Do not add large amounts at once. For significant drops, apply in stages and retest. Always use 4-in-1 Test Kit before and after.
❓ FAQ
Why does my spa pH keep rising even after I adjust it?
Heated water tends alkaline by nature. Evaporation, bather activity and the spa's own chemistry push pH upwards continuously. This is normal. Test and adjust weekly rather than trying to hold a fixed reading.
Can I add pH Reducer directly to the spa?
No. Always pre-dissolve in a bucket of warm water first. Adding granules directly can cause localised high-concentration areas that may bleach or mark spa surfaces.
How do I know how much to add?
Test first with the 4-in-1 Test Kit to measure how far above range you are. Add 15g per 1,000L to drop pH by approximately 0.2, or 30g per 1,000L to drop by 0.4. Retest after 4 hours before adding more.
pH Reducer lowers alkalinity too. Is that a problem?
It depends on where your alkalinity is sitting. If it is already at the low end of the range, reduce pH carefully in small doses and retest. If alkalinity drops too low, use Alkalinity Enhancer to restore it.
