💧 How it works

Most spa owners come to AquaSpa after years of fighting chlorine odour, red eyes and the sticky skin feel that lingers well after a soak. AquaSpa Spa Sanitiser is the direct solution: a non-chlorine, non-bromine sanitiser approved for residential spas, hot tubs and swim spas that kills harmful bacteria and pathogens without the side effects that come with traditional chemical systems.

The active ingredient is polyhexanide hydrochloride (PHMB) at 20g/L, a proven biocide used across medical and aquatic applications for its effectiveness and gentle profile. Weekly dosing keeps your water protected without producing odours, clouding equipment or irritating skin. This is the centrepiece of the AquaSpa system, and everything else in the range is built to support it.

AquaSpa Spa Sanitiser details

  • Active ingredient: 20g/L polyhexanide hydrochloride (PHMB)
  • Non-chlorine, non-bromine sanitiser approved for residential spas and hot tubs
  • No odours, no sticky residue, no eye or skin irritation
  • Gentle on skin and hair, safe for allergy and asthma sufferers
  • Compatible with ozone generators and ionisers
  • No detrimental effect on heaters or spa components, prolonging equipment life
  • Non-foaming: will not block filters or leave residue on spa walls and jets
  • Available in 500ml, 2.5L and 5L

Choosing your size: The 2.5L treats a 1,000L spa at the weekly dose for approximately 40 weeks. The 5L is the best-value option for regular spa users and larger water volumes. The 500ml suits occasional users or those trying AquaSpa for the first time.

Use AquaSpa Sanitiser weekly alongside AquaSpa Spa Shock. The Shock oxidises organic compounds that the sanitiser cannot break down on its own, keeping the water clear and the sanitiser working properly. Monitor your water balance with the AquaSpa 4-in-1 Test Kit and add AquaSpa Spa Kleer when water clarity needs attention.

🛁 Does it suit my spa?

AquaSpa Spa Sanitiser is compatible with all spa and hot tub types. Select your setup for specific guidance.

🛁Acrylic or fibreglass hot tub
Compatible - most common use case
AquaSpa Sanitiser is designed primarily for acrylic and fibreglass home spas and hot tubs. Its non-foaming, non-corrosive formula is gentle on spa surfaces and will not degrade jets or equipment seals over time.
🏊Swim spa
Compatible - adjust dose for volume
Swim spas hold significantly more water than a standard hot tub. Measure your volume accurately and dose at 60ml per 1,000L. For swim spas with high bather loads, test more frequently as demand on the sanitiser increases.
🧱Concrete or tiled spa
Compatible - maintain pH carefully
Works well in concrete and tiled spas. Keep pH within the 7.0 to 7.8 range to protect grout and tile surfaces. Use AquaSpa pH Reducer or AquaSpa Alkalinity Enhancer to maintain correct balance.
Spa with ozone generator or ioniser
Fully compatible
AquaSpa Spa Sanitiser is confirmed compatible with ozone generators and ionisers. These systems reduce overall sanitiser demand, so you may find a slightly lower dose is sufficient. Test regularly and adjust accordingly.
🔄Switching from chlorine or bromine
Yes, but preparation is essential
Chlorine and bromine deactivate AquaSpa Sanitiser, so both must be at zero before you start. Drain and refill the spa, run AquaSpa Pipe Klenz through the pipes before filling, then use AquaSpa Chlorine Remover to neutralise any residual chemical in the fresh tap water before your first dose.
📏 Dosage guide

Dose weekly with the pump running and filtration active. Maintain pH between 7.0 and 7.8 for best performance. If switching from a chlorine or bromine system, confirm levels are at zero before starting.

First-time setup
60ml
per 1,000L
Clean spa and filtration before filling. Use Chlorine Remover to neutralise any chlorine in tap water before dosing.
Weekly maintenance
60ml
per 1,000L
Add weekly with the pump running. Run filtration for at least one full cycle after dosing. Follow with Spa Shock to oxidise organic load.
After heavy use
+ 30ml
per 1,000L
Add a half-dose top-up after parties or extended sessions, then follow with Spa Shock to clear the increased organic load.
❓ FAQ
Can I switch from chlorine to AquaSpa?
Yes, but preparation is essential. Drain the spa, clean the filtration system and run AquaSpa Pipe Klenz before refilling to flush chemical residue from the pipes. Once refilled, add AquaSpa Chlorine Remover to neutralise any chlorine in the tap water. Chlorine deactivates the sanitiser, so levels must be confirmed at zero before the first dose.
Do I still need to use Spa Shock?
Yes. AquaSpa Spa Shock is a non-chlorine oxidiser that removes organic compounds including body oils and residue. These accumulate faster in a heated spa environment and, without regular oxidising, lead to cloudy water and reduced sanitiser performance. Use it weekly or after heavy use.
What pH range does it work in?
AquaSpa Sanitiser works best in a pH range of 7.0 to 7.8. Test weekly and use AquaSpa pH Reducer to bring levels down if they rise above 7.8, or AquaSpa Alkalinity Enhancer if they drop below 7.0. Correct pH also protects your spa equipment.
Is it safe for kids and allergy sufferers?
Yes. AquaSpa contains no chlorine or bromine and does not produce the chemical by-products those systems generate. It has no detrimental effect on respiratory passages, which makes it a popular choice for households with asthma or skin allergy sufferers. The water feels soft and clean rather than chemical-laden. As with all chemicals, keep out of reach of children and follow label instructions.
What happens if I accidentally add chlorine?
Chlorine deactivates the AquaSpa sanitiser. Do not add any further sanitiser until chlorine levels return to zero. Use AquaSpa Chlorine Remover to accelerate the process, then re-dose the sanitiser once levels are confirmed clear.
