💧 How it works▾
The 5L is the choice for spa owners who have committed to the AquaSpa system and want supply that does not run out between orders. At the standard 60ml per 1,000L weekly dose, the 5L covers a 1,000L spa for over 18 months or a larger swim spa for a full season without reordering.
The formula is identical to the 500ml and 2.5L: polyhexanide hydrochloride (PHMB) at 20g/L, a non-chlorine biocide that kills bacteria and pathogens without producing odours, irritating skin or affecting equipment. The cost per dose at 5L is significantly lower than the smaller sizes, which makes it the practical choice for households that use the spa regularly.
AquaSpa Spa Sanitiser details
Active ingredient: 20g/L polyhexanide hydrochloride (PHMB)
Non-chlorine, non-bromine sanitiser
No odours, no sticky residue, no eye or skin irritation
Allergy and asthma friendly
Compatible with ozone generators and ionisers
Non-foaming: safe for filters, jets and equipment
No detrimental effect on heaters or spa components
Compatible with all spa and hot tub types. Select your setup for specific guidance.
🛁Acrylic or fibreglass hot tub▾
Compatible - most common use case
The formula is non-foaming and non-corrosive. Safe on acrylic and fibreglass surfaces and will not degrade jets or equipment seals.
🏊Swim spa▾
Compatible - adjust dose for volume
Swim spas hold more water than a standard hot tub. Dose at the correct rate per 1,000L and test more frequently under high bather load.
🧱Concrete or tiled spa▾
Compatible - maintain pH carefully
Works well in concrete and tiled spas. Keep pH in the 7.0 to 7.8 range to protect grout and tile surfaces. Use pH Reducer or Alkalinity Enhancer to adjust as needed.
⚡Spa with ozone generator or ioniser▾
Fully compatible
Ozone and ioniser systems reduce sanitiser demand. A slightly lower dose may maintain effective protection. Test regularly and adjust.
🔄Switching from chlorine or bromine▾
Yes, preparation required
Chlorine and bromine deactivate AquaSpa Sanitiser. Drain and refill the spa, run Pipe Klenz through the pipes, then use Chlorine Remover on the fresh fill before dosing.
📏 Dosage guide▾
Dose weekly with the pump running. Maintain pH between 7.0 and 7.8. For swim spas, calculate volume accurately and dose at the same rate per 1,000L.
First-time setup
60ml
per 1,000L
Clean spa and filtration before filling. Use Chlorine Remover to neutralise chlorine in tap water before the first dose.
Weekly maintenance
60ml
per 1,000L
Add weekly with the pump running and filter for at least one full cycle after dosing.
After heavy use
+ 30ml
per 1,000L
Add a half-dose after parties or extended sessions. Follow with Spa Shock 5kg to clear the extra organic load.
❓ FAQ▾
How long will the 5L last?▾
At 60ml per 1,000L weekly, the 5L provides over 80 doses for a 1,000L spa. For a 2,000L spa that is over 40 weeks. For a swim spa of 5,000L it covers around 16 weeks.
Is there a cheaper cost per dose at 5L?▾
Yes. The cost per dose drops meaningfully compared to the 500ml or 2.5L, which is why the 5L suits regular users with larger spas.
Can I use AquaSpa in a swim spa?▾
Yes. Dose at 60ml per 1,000L based on your swim spa volume. High bather loads increase demand on the sanitiser, so test more frequently during heavy-use periods.
Do I still need to shock the water?▾
Yes. Spa Shock 5kg at 5kg pairs well with this size for owners managing high bather loads or large water volumes. The shock oxidises organic compounds that the sanitiser cannot break down alone.
